Exterior Stair Renovation 1

We rebuilt this entry from the ground up—fixing hidden water damage, replacing the stairs, and finishing with durable stonework.

This project started with a failing set of exterior stairs and visible damage beneath the entry door. The steps had broken down over time, and once demolition began, it was clear the problem went deeper than surface wear. Behind the siding and trim, water had worked its way into the structure, leaving rot and compromised framing. It was time for an exterior stair renovation.

The first step was removing the unsafe materials and exposing the full extent of the damage. Once opened up, we cut back the rotten wood, reframed the section, and insulated properly to prevent future moisture issues. With solid framing in place, the wall was sheathed, wrapped, and sealed to protect the home going forward.

From there, the focus shifted back to the entry itself. New stairs were built to replace the crumbling originals, with strong framing and safe access from ground level to the raised doorway. At the same time, the front façade was given a full refresh. Stonework was installed across the lower section, creating both a durable protective layer and a clean, finished look that ties the entry together.

What started as a repair job became a full rebuild that corrected hidden problems and improved the appearance of the home. The entryway is now structurally sound, weather-tight, and finished in materials built to last.

This project is a reminder of what can happen when water damage goes unnoticed. It also shows the benefit of addressing the root of the problem instead of covering it up. By taking the time to rebuild correctly, the homeowner gained peace of mind along with a sharp new front entrance.
